Optimization on import [SOLVED]

Hello,

does Unity do some optimization on the mesh when doing an .fbx import? Because importing two meshes with exactly the same number of vertices(basically one face model with 2 different facial expressions) results in a different number of vertices between the two models in unity.

I need the two meshes to have the same amount of vertices because I’d like to try some basic blending between them.

Is there any way to disable those optimizations, or somehow retrieve the original vertices from the imported meshes?

Hum, the only thing I can come up with is make sure Smoothing angle is turned all the way up on import. If you get different smoothing on the two different morph targets, Unity will cut the mesh up to keep the hard edges which will add verts tho the imported file.

Unity discards smoothing settings from export, so you’ll have to set it on import.

If that doesn’t work, I have no idea.

Hey, that was it!

Thanks so much
