Hi…
I have thinking about how to get more performance with my fully of mountains terrain…
Not sure if this is good but my idea is :
Replace 1 big terrain with 4 littles ones as the image shows:

Here the terrain is divided by 4, the blue brush is a road… green X is a trigger…
When the player car touches a trigger, the engine disables the previous terrain, in this case, if the car touches the first trigger, so the first terrain is destroyed or not rendered…
can this grow performance ?/
on purpose, Outrun 2006 works with this method…
Well…the maximum you would gain is 1:4 (not counting performance required for your trigger checks and unloading/loading new terrain), so it’s not that much. I think it would make sense if you would split it more like into 16 parts. Are you sure that terrain performance is the problem?
Yes mr… i only have a mesh track and terrain… if i disable terrain rendering, draw calls drop to 12, if i activate it, it counts 250… but that is not a problem because i have really many mountains and things like trees, foliage, etc. is acceptable…
do you think subdividing terrain into 16 parts could be a solution?.., is a good idea… i guess will try…
now what i´m thinking… does this is not the same to reduce camera far clip distance …?
thanks.
