Unity Community Chat Client

Why isn’t there a Unity-powered, Unity Community chat client/server, or a Unity-powered IRC client?

I realize that most people are looking for the absolute basics when it comes to chatting, but imagine the things you could do with the interface!

There is a Unity IRC chatroom. The chat client isn’t Unity-powered, but there still is one.

Actually, someone did release an irc client for unity a while ago, I’m sure its still around. And yes, the unity IRC has been around for a while, and is the awesome.

Right, I use it frequently.

I was just thinking about how it could be really cool if there were something more “advanced.” I mean, imagine if you could just click a button linked from the forum, or from Unity’s main site, that took you to a web-player base chat room. In that chat room, you could have a main collective area, then areas divided up similarly to the forum (scripting, shaders, showcase, etc). In addition to this it could allow users to simply drag and drop users into new chat windows for group chats. People with pro licenses could even post URLs to asset bundles and anybody who clicks the link could view it in a “preview” section of the interface.

There are so many possibilities.

So you assume that there are people who are willing to monitor the IRC when all the newbz start spamming every channel with their new MMORPG? You have to think how much work users on forums, irc, etc. generate. (I’m not saying you are wrong I’m just highlighting a possible issue)

I don’t think the IRC deserves that sort of unfortunate treatment

Frankly, I don’t mind the new people - it’s the elitists with no humility that get me.
