Hi all.
I have a new Chromebox with Linux built in, I want to try and have a play with Unity 2020 to see if I can make something, how do I get the latest stable release of the Unity app for Linux?
If you can help please post on here or send me a PM.
Hi all.

Just download the Unity Hub on your Linux box and install the Editor from there.
The link to download the Linux flavoured Hub goes to a 404 page.
Look at the last post in that thread. It mentions the Linux link being changed (not sure why they didn’t just edit the first post…)
What Linux distro? Unity is for now supported only on Ubuntu and CentOS. Distributions made after Ubuntu and CentOS will probably do (Unity works fairly well on Linux Mint).
Unity Hub appimage is here: https://discussions.unity.com/t/734783/3
I don’t know, latest I think.
There are hundreds of Linux distributions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions
My Brother’s managed to install Unity on Linux, however it crashes when you open a project.
Is there a more stable version?
The version of Linux I have on my Chromebox is custom built by Google apparently, I don’t know if it will run Unity, my Brother is trying to get it to work.
You should install another Linux distribution, a real one this rime. The most popular is Ubuntu; you can download the iso on their site and you’ll find all the help you need regarding the installation on their forums too.
We managed to get Unity running on Linux last night, in a fashion, we just discovered that my box needs about double the memory to run Unity, I currently have 3.75 Gig of RAM, and my Brother’s managed to get it working, he has the exact same Chromebox as I do apart from his has 8 Gig of RAM.
He says it’s a simple inexpensive upgrade which he’ll do when we go down to his in London at some point.
And then I get get making stuff in Unity.
We’ve just got it working! Now I can try and follow my book and make something.
