Websites like kongregate, newgrounds, and armor games where you can earn money from ads. please give me the percentage you have to give to the owners of the web and a good cpm or ad network to use. if you don’t recommend this then please tell us your thoughts. i would also like the cash you can make for about 1000 plays on that website.
Expect to make about $1-2 per thousand plays. Its pretty much the same across all of the different web based portals and advertising platforms I’ve tried.
Google only sends you checks for the ad revenue you earned. When you put somones add on your website they pay a commision on what you sell through there link up to 75% for some software you sell on your website
Honestly, from what I have seen (read) about people’s experience with games you might be better off checking into just doing affiliate marketing as @beasley12 hinted at above.
For many years I dabbled around with it for fun outside of my day job and built it up to around $20k per year passive income. Besides the ability to make money it is also a great way to get experience in marketing. Basically, instead of you creating a product you simply promote other people’s products and earn a chunk of the money from the sale. Again, as @beasley12 said some products pay you up to 75% of the sale price.
Big Fish games had an affiliate program back at that time and you got credits (1 credit = 1 of their games) from sales you delivered. Either that or I chose that option because I once had a lot of credits in my account.
Anyway, I truly do think anyone doing this for a business would find it very beneficial to tackle each thing a skill at a time. It is a lot to learn game development plus marketing. So if you can find an opportunity to learn marketing and make money that way I’d say try it out. After you are able to successfully market other people’s games then you can apply the same strategies to your own.
