Hey Unity,
Ive decided for once Ill work on my own game, I generally freelance or just help out on other projects where I can but I have nothing whole I can show for myself, So I think the best thing to do is just, dive head first into something simple.
Target Platform: Tablets and Phone devices, Although I am not sure about how the programming goes about this, I have friends who will port to iOS for me and worst case scenario program it for me, although it would be a nice achievement to program this myself.
The game I have decided to develop came from when I was doing some college work, some of you may of seen ‘The Buzz’ logos I did in the ‘What are you working on’ thread, well that’s how it started. Basically the aim of the game is to last as long as you can and is extremely (virtually a replica) of the game ‘Jail Breaker’ where you are constantly running right across the screen and you can either jump or slide to avoid obstacles, if you crash you die and you submit your score. In mine I will not be doing the slide function, only the jump function and instead of razor blades as obstacles I am going to do the ground falling.
So far I have developed the a proto for the main menu and also the level types. I am keeping the visuals very simplistic on purpose as I like the style.
Things to do (art assets):
-Design Main menu [×]
-Design Help screen [×]
-Design Option screen [×]
-Design Splash screen [×]
-Design level proto [×]
-Create character [ ]
-Finalize help screen [ ]
-add back buttons [ ]
-design a lost screen/submit score [×]
-design a score boards screen, (local and global) [ ]
-design other necassary GUI such as achievements when I get to that hurdle[ ]
Below are some screens:-
Main Menu: Very basic, 3 buttons nothing more. maybe a little design
Level design: The way the level works is: The shapes start orange, and as different ones turn red they vanish, so basically you need to time your jumping to get over the vanishing blocks, the shapes on top of the level are spikes, you need to jump over these too. for not I have just put in a placeholder character (A ball)
As of yet I dont have much done, but I think once I get all the graphics done it will just be a time of learning a bit of code, I only know AS2 and VB but im going to download unity and see what I can do
Dont know how often ill post updates as im pretty busy with college, but I want to set myself a dead line for Christmas to do this as it seems to be very simple.
