Hello everyone! First of all let me apologize if I posted this in the wrong section or if the very same question was asked before - I couldn’t find a topic adressing the exact same ‘‘issue’’.
I am an absolute beginner with no sort of coding experience at all and I am a bit confused.
In the ‘‘Learn’’ page on the unity website there are 2 online courses up for sale, however they don’t really state if prior coding experience is required with them so I thought I’d ask you:
For a complete beginner, which course should I buy? Or is there another better course that would fit my needs on udemy or somewhere else?
I should mention that I am interested in creating 2d and 3d GAMES ONLY. Thank you!
Thanks! I’d like to buy an online course that will guide my step by step through everything though. Nonetheless I will use the resources you pointed out as well.
Only you know your current skills and what game ideas you want to make. Pick the smallest of those ideas and make a list of things you think you need to learn to make that idea into a game. Work through any of the free tutorials in the Learn section that match anything on your list. Got player movement and collecting things - Roll a ball, and so on.
Once you have done the free tutorials remake your learning list for your project (include anything you feel you need further knowledge on from the free tutorials). You should be in a better position to judge which tutorials (including commercial ones) are suitable for you on this second and later lists. You can repeat the process as needed until you either have an empty list or feel you can figure the rest out yourself or from asking on the forums. Then make the game before starting again with the next idea.
