Art assets you'd like to see in the asset store?

Hey, I’m genuinely curious what kind of art asset packs people would like to see on the asset store. This is partially for selfish reasons, as I’m thinking about making some stuff for the asset store, but in general I think this kind of data would be good for anyone wanting to make stuff for the asset store. So, informal poll time! What would you like to see that isn’t available yet?

Monkeys. The is a serious lack of quality monkey models.

Sci-fi props, rigged characters

2ddddddddddd!

What kind? Do you mean like characters/environment or like gem/ball/puzzle (iconic stuff)?

All of it. Tiles, environments, enemies, shots, player characters, spaceships, platformer elements, backgrounds, etc

This. There are corridors everywhere. Can’t find a single prop (well, excluding computers).

Eh… I have a portrait pack, but it doesn’t really sell… Icons are so-so, but still not stellar. My 3d stuff sells better.

2D definitely.

I once thought of making a 2d pack. A nature pack plus city landmarks for backgrounds. The idea was to offer a side top and iso image for the same asset (trees fences etc).
There are a lot of vector icons floating on the net since the flash days, and after looking in the asset store got the impression only gui skins/ icons or effects where moving if anything 2D.

or more 3Dish

I would like to see more projects like wasteland. So maybe if the artists got together and said lets all make assets for a racing game, but all the assets had a similar post apocalyptic style like in wasteland.

2D art for sure, but it’s more important quality (and re-usability) than price. Asset Store is full of half-baked things but many complain their assets don’t sell well. Uh, really?

And by 2D art I do not mean 3D art viewed from the side, cheaply made at 100 rotation angles. I’m talking about hand-drawn 2D art.

I was thinking on “off the shelf” sprites for rapid prototyping. Not final art assets. This just proves that i´m clueless of the community needs as I think is the OP starting point.

I´m sure a lot of artists would be interested in contributing with Hand Drawn art.
But unlike with 3d Models (that can be re-used re-textured etc) Hand Drawn 2D is limited to a specif aesthetics and also constrained to a side, top or a fixed perspective. All this narrows the potential usefulness off the asset. And that’s probably the reason the Asset store as mainly icons and effects, wich have a more broad application.

Can you/ anyone post examples of what are they thinking when looking for ready-made 2D assets?
