Base75 Universal Controller Announced - iOS Android Mac Windows Linux Ouya* Steam*

My name is Dustin and my team and I are pleased to announce we are working on a really sexy gaming controller. It will be almost universal. We will possibly be launching a kickstarter soon as well as allowing preorders to get the ball rolling. We have seen some really crappy controllers come out for mobile devices over the past year and we decided to build this out of need to have a quality gaming experience. My personal goal is to get truly competative FPS games on iOS and Android. Touch screens are great for menus and some unique interaction but doesnt work well when you need to simultaneously jump, turn, and shoot.

Can we see the latest prototype in use? I’m not sure how those inside buttons will work.

On the iOS side of things it’s pretty likely that in terms of widespread game support for controllers, the official stuff from Apple in iOS7 is what will gain traction. But Apple have a very clearly defined set of controller profiles dictating number of buttons, sensitivity of buttons and sticks etc, along with the need to work with Apple to get certification. I imagine this may throw a spanner in the works of projects like this one?

If you want truly competitive FPS games then why are you working on a gamepad? ;):stuck_out_tongue:

But anyway, while I’m open to innovation I’m interested to know why you’ve chosen to split the face buttons up and put them where you’ve put them. That makes them pretty much incompatible with a lot of existing game designs, which will be a huge sticking point - they don’t fit with current games, so people will continue to use controllers that do, which will impact uptake, which will in turn mean there’s no encouragement to develop games designed for this button layout because fewer people will have them…

You’ve also got some really… interesting… things in the pop up details on your platforms and features lists, to say the least.
