Flare

Hello,

I have take point light and make it as a flare.
I put this light in hollow object which is open from front
and close from other three sides.

When i rotate viewport at run time flare seen in back side also.
what should i do that flare not see in back side ?

Thanx

Switch on the “Directional” property for the flare and point the Z axis of the light object in the direction you want the flare to be visible.

Thanks for your reply,

I have change point to “Directional”.
But now flare not seen(disappear).

I have take new directional light take smallflare.
But do not success.

What should i do ?

Thanx

A couple of possibilities… the flare is only visible in the game view, so check there if you have only looked in the scene. Also, the direction of the light’s Z axis (blue arrow) has to be pointing towards the camera for the flare to be seen.

Hi,

Flares do work in the Scene view.

Some things to check:

  1. Make sure that the ‘Fx’ button for the Scene viewport is on. Go here for details.

  2. Make sure you don’t have a collider blocking the trace path between the camera and the flare. Colliders will block flares.

  3. Sometimes you just need to select the flare in the viewport to refresh it.

  4. The axis of the light only applies to a directional light, not a point light. Further, it’s more about which way your camera is facing, and not reliant a specific axis.

However, the most accurate result as andeeee indicated is to view it in the Game viewport.
