Good C# tutorial / reference?

Hello!

I’m new to Unity and have made the decision to use it in combination with C#, a language that I’m not yet very familiar with but will be in the future. The problem is, I saw a really good Java Script tutorial on this forum, but I couldn’t find such with C#.

My problem is that I know how programming works, I know scripting languages like html, php, mysql, AS2 3 and even javascript, but each language has it’s own little things that you just have to know or somebody needs to tell you.

Does anyone know some good references or maybe even a tutorial like this one, but with C#?

Thanks in advance!

Well, so far for the response :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, for anybody asking the same question: I found a tutorial that is probably going to help me! Check it out:

If anybody knows a better tutorial, post it please! (It appears there are no others… ?? Why is it that Javascript is the preferred language for Unity?)

Ah, so you are looking for a general C# tutorial, instead of Unity-specific? In that case… google away! There are plenty out there. Just doing a search for ‘C# tutorial’ should be enough. Heck, even the microsoft ones ( Visual C# Guided Tour | Microsoft Learn , Interactive tutorials - A tour of C# | Microsoft Learn , C# Language Primer | Microsoft Learn ) seem decent.

If you have any experience with C or C++ then this (free) book from Charles Petzold might be of some use to you.

I’ve found this book to be very good for learning the language, and can also be a good exercise in learning what is available in the language, aside from the Unity functions.

Alright! Thanks a lot guys, I think I have enough material to read through and exercise with for the coming months

I found a great tutorial here:
