Headed to LA in November? Game design at Unite 2016

It took 'em a while. Unite 2016 got more submissions than ever before. So, I had to wait, and wait, and wait. Until yesterday, when I got the email. ‘Your talk is accepted!’ So, come Nov, I’ll be privileged to share Game Design topics with the community.

Talk: “What Makes Great Games Great? Game Design with Gigi”

Abstract: "What makes great games great? You’ve got your story, your art, and a fully playable version of your game! Unfortunately, your beta tests haven’t gone very well. The feedback is far from what you hoped.

So, let’s go back to basics. There is a recipe found in every great game, from Halo to World of Warcraft to Solitaire. The recipe is built on the science of deep engagement, also known as Flow (by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi). This talk explores the fundamentals that makes great games great - the four requirements of flow, what they mean in practical terms, and a simple way to visualize them so you never forget.

Use Unity to build games. Use flow to make them great."

I’m looking forward to putting faces to names!

Do you know if they’ve published a schedule yet? Haven’t been to a Unite before, but most conventions we’ve gone to would have at least a rough schedule out by now…
