Since Unity 2018.2 is out I’m testing it and find the UI way too big because of the DPI scaling.
I previously was disabling High DPI in the compatibility settings in Windows (by application) and the UI was quite comfortable like that; because Unity can have a lot of things on the screen.
Setting Windows at 100% DPI (no scaling) gives a perfect size. But then most of my other stuff is too small; obivouslly.
Could there be a on/off setting in the editor to disable completely Unity editor dpi scaling? or a custom setting to let us chose the scaling factor like some software offer?
Because Unity is now doing the scaling, the different compatiblity settings have no effect or just keep the size and give the blurry text.
Bumping this thread, not to be annoying but hopefully someone could tell me if I should post it somewhere where Unity team replies or should I report it as a bug?
I believe it’s not really a bug but some missing options within the editor. I’m sure some people like when everything is super big, but honestly I just went back on it to try from 2018.1 to .2 and opened the store page. I everything is huge, the text, the buttons. It’s really not comfortable. When I move the editor window on my 1080p secondary monitor, everything is clean.
I’d just like to have within Unity to chose myself and set it to 100% instead of the 125% of Windows. Lots of software offers that or at least let us disable it completely from the Windows scaling option. Here, it doesn’t work like this.
Edit: I can’t try it with a 4K monitor, I do not have one. But maybe there are not much complain as majority of users have either a 1080p or 4K monitor, probably not that much own a 1440p one, thus: less complain
I created a bug report for this issue, it would be nice to have an option to disable the new high dpi behaviour so the editor works just like pre-2018.2
Probably because it is not really a bug, but as designed behavior. You should make a feature request for additional options for fine tuning this feature.
Okay, it’s 2019, I’m running a brand new version of Unity, and I’ve got this same issue. Did it ever get solved, or did any of you ever figure out a workaround for it?
