Very good job so far!
Jump animation seems a bit strange, the horse jumps very flat, should jump up with front legs first and land with front legs first, more like an arc. Other animations are very nice : )

Yep. I think you are right. I just want to note regarding to Jump and espesially about the last one - horse_running_death.
In order it will looks natural in the game you need to move it just like you moving walk, trot and gallop animations.
In case of jump you are moving it up and forward. In case of horse_running_death just forward in 2 horse bodies distance from the start animation to the end.
What about bucking?
The four main gait movements are walk, trot, canter and gallop.
Those are like walk, jog, fast jog / run and sprint to us. each one has a distinc beat.
Horses can also pace but is little less common - kind of a noble stride.

The problem with this is that everyone will want to use their own humanoid models, not a humanoid model supplied with the horse.
It may be solved in 2 ways.

You can create horsmen animation for you model and will attach it to my horse in Unity. Horse will come with 4 spesial bones: Horseman bone, 2 srirrups bones and reins bone. All can be repositioned to fit custom model.

You can do all I described above but use my horsmen animations for your model. (it means to use my skeleton rig for your model, of corse)
Agreed, but my point was that most people buying this asset will want to use it on their own custom humanoid models with their own custom bone structure and their own custom animations, therefore IMHO you would be better off ignoring the 1 or 2 requests for this “feature” since it will be too much work for the least amount of return. Approach #1 is perfect : you give us a mount point of reference, and we create our own animation to mount/dismount however we like. You could spend time on #2, but IMHO all that effort will go to 1 or 2 users that are still messing around with Unity and not doing anything serious with it… I’m sure you’ll find your time and talent better spent creating other great models and animations. ![]()

We are thinking in the same way.
1.Horse will be independent asset without any horseman.
2.I will make animation collection “Horsmen” so people will be able to rig and skin their model s with it and yous animations.

I’ve been looking for some good horse/rider reference footage for months, looking at movies, TV shows, etc. If I had an actual 3d animation pack of walks, trots, canters, gallups, from the front/back, side and maybe a diagonal, I would be in HEAVEN!! And if there were some idle or other random animations thrown in, I wouldn’t even be able to handle the awesomeness.
Animating a horse and rider for my 2d project has been maddening. This could be exactly what I need.

No, when a horse paces, it’s left legs work together i.e. both left legs are forward when both right legs are behind.

How come all animated horses look so well fed?
In reality, most working horses are a bit thinner.
- not just a comment about your horses but almost all animated horses I’ve ever seen.
Usually the females are a bit fatter than the males and there are often some ribs showing - unless the horses sit around doing nothing all day, which is a bit strange for a game.
At 0:16 the horse looks as if it was sneezing and dropping dead right afterwards. Must be a bad case of horse flu. ![]()
