Horse what animations you would like to have?

Hello guys!

I am in later stage of horse creation.
I want to make it useful in any game where horse can be used. Not only for fantasy and Medieval games.
Without armor it will have only 795 polygons with full equipment - 2161.

I am animating horse first time. Here is my animations list for this time.

  1. Idle 2-3 animations
  2. Walking
  3. Running
  4. Gallop
  5. Eating\drinking
  6. Sniffing
  7. Rear up
  8. Shaking head
  9. Jumping
  10. Dies

I will be grateful to have you suggestion and advises about what animations you would like to see and have with this character?

It would be very useful to not only have the horse animations, but also have them packaged (may be optionally) with according human animations (like mount/unmount, saddling/unsaddling, feeding, caring, leading, falling from horse). All these animations should be playable together with the corresponding horse animation. Example: Have a “horse dies during gallop” animation together with the “human falls from dieing horse” animation, playable in concert, so that it looks as one.

I think there is no other animation package on the market anywhere that has such “combos”. Quite simmilar to your medieval combat animations that also have combos for attack and corresponding defense.

And of course (as secondary package) have some combat combos for horse and rider (e.g. Lance attack, parading, sword/shield combat from horse, medieval tourney, …)

I would love to see such package(s) and buy them at once.

I think it is a brilliant idea. Actually I was thinking about something, but your post all puted in the right place. “Horsman Animation Colletion” it will be named. :slight_smile:

Fighting - Kicking with back legs, biting, pummelling with front legs etc.

Since I am planning to make a horse based advanture game, I am happy to see this pack coming. I guess my suggestions will go beyond the current plans :slight_smile:

What I would like to see is special beahviors, like flying (Pegazus), Unicron fight, Sleipnir (8 legs horse of Odin), so the most typical mythological horses. Maybe as an additional pack…

Not sure about the animations, but will the horses eyes really be that large? They seem far too big at the moment.

I think Rear up animation can be used as startled.

Actually I was thinking about Pegazus and Unicorn. It will be pretty easy to make these two from horse. But I am not sure about Sleipnir. It maybe not a big problem to model horse with 8 legs, but to animmate… Hm… I will think about it later. :slight_smile:

A game I’m trying to develop will have horses pulling carts. That would be a useful animation set. Pulling the cart straight AND gentle left/right AND sharp left/right. One Horse pulling one cart and maybe two horses pulling one cart.

Maby I even will make a cart. :slight_smile:
What cart will be in your game, simple cart or maybe coach or a chariot?
