How to avoid duplications of the same detail mesh (foliage) on many terrains tiles

Hello

New with unity, so please help me understand the basic workflow.

If i draw grass foliage over terrain tile A and B each one gets the grass mesh written to its “Details” window.

Then i double-click in the Mesh preview and change any setting, apply it and draw again on terrain tile A. it does not get a second grass mesh written to its details because why should it, I am still drawing with the one i added manually. The already planted grasses adapt to the setting changes.

But if i go over the edges of tile A to tile B, the terrain B gets a second detail mesh written to its Details window. One that is exactly identical except for the one setting Value i changed. Also, already planted grass does not adapt on other tiles.

Now i understand that this makes kind of sense in some workflows. But i think it is most times more unpractical than helpfull.

My question is: what is a workflow that prevents many unused detail Props cluttering the detail window?
