Im using 3d mesh with ortographic camera, but, how can i make 2d objects? Anyone have a tutorial for it?
I’m thinking about making a 1x2 3d Plane, put a texture on it and move it using sprite script. But, using alpha texture in a 3d plane give me a low rez texture quality.
My other plan its to use 1x2 3d Plane for every limb, so i would have an 1x2 plane for the body, then others for arms and legs, and 1 1x1 for the head.
Depending on what you want to do, I would say your first idea would be better/faster. I haven’t done work with different limbs and moving them around and such, but that is a pretty neat idea. You would have to animate everything in Unity which may be a pain. But if your looking for crisp textures your best bet most likely would be to go with your second option, though you are going to increase your draw calls which will slow your game down. My suggestion is to play with the texture import settings and see if you can find a resolution you like and then go from there. Always start with the easier solution then tweak it.
There are plenty of assets in the asset store that specialize in this. Basically what you want is low vert count, low draw calls, low materials in numbers used. If you are building for mobile, set textures to Advanced, PVRTC.
