This game is looking amazing! I love procedural animation, or anything else that’s calculated by the cpu (rather than pre-generated) for that matter!

I’ve been following it for ages
The game is amazing. Some of it’s features are just woah.
He’s been at it for so long i might just have to buy it when its out.
Hey didn’t Yogscast do a commentary for this?
Yeah I like how they give a lot of info on the game and how its being built.
Anyone know what game engine he’s using?
His own.

Massively difficult! He must go through a lot of work!
Thanks Eric.
I have to wonder, how do guys like him make so much progress on games? I can barely find the time to finish putting together my little racing game inbetween work and school.
Sometimes I think that these indie game development teams that have popped up like Overgrowth, Natural Selection 2, even Interstellar Marines, one of the people involved in it must be millionaires or something, either through inheritance, or maybe just getting struck with the right business deal, so they no longer have to work and they can just sit their spending all their time working on video games or funding a small indie project. Of course though, I have no idea, it’s just something I wonder about and suspect when I see someone managing to complete such a huge amount of work and work on it for so long with no obvious income.
And of course thats not to discredit them at all, it’d be my dream to get a few million in bank and be able to just sit their making games for the rest of my life without worry. But I am still curious to know, how do such people support themselves financially while investing so much time in indie game dev?
I will probably most likely buy this game though, I was a HUGE fan of Oni way back in the day, and this looks to be the only game created ever since then that could compare.
@eem - It doesn’t have to be all 7 figures! 6 will do, hehe! Doesn’t have to be a luxury life, just enough to cover the living expenses. The rest is hard work, and love for game making!
With your theory, having inherited a sum of money can keep this guys living off a rent or something, giving them enough time to spend on indie gaming, but either way their work is impressive, and we should applaud them nevertheless!
*fix’d
You should also check out their latest Indie Humble Bundle 3. There are some amazing games too.
I wish I could get my hands on a copy of that game engine ![]()
How do they do it? if there was an admiration emoticon i would add it here →
The game looks amazing, and has a lot of cool features. I follow this as well; but have stayed away from preordering because I have not seen any game content yet. The have physics, they have blood, they have sounds, they have modding tools, they have beatuiful animations and ragdoll physics, they have beautiful weapons, and characters; but haven’t seen a game yet. So I will continue to follow this as well.
Something similar to quality, but actually has a flesh out game as well is natural selection 2. I am so close to pre-ordering that one.
There was a video from Wolfire Games which showed their Blender animation workflow, can’t find it anymore…
Also very interesting Title!
