Hi I am trying to work on a simple game and I want to add a basic “news” ticker that gets fed from my site … is this possible withing unity? or is it possible to overlay an UIview on top of the whole unity game?

both is possible.
But unless you own iPhone Advanced, the iphone sdk max size constraints will force you to use a lightweight xml library, you can’t use system.xml
