iTunes was HACKED!

gg Apple
anyone here was involved in this? (victim-wise)

seems like the “entry point” is the itunes store app and stored cc data in there, do I see that right?

If so: yay happy me, never touched that thing

Lucky you, I have Appstore account with CC attached lol. :frowning:
Checked my bank account right now, if everything’s fine (hopefully) then next thing I’ll do is take the CC off my appstore account

iTunes wasn’t hacked.

I would call that a hack. I mean, he made an app that hacks people who buy it. They practically get paid for their own destruction.

Did you guys here about the hackers who would only take out pennies? Smartest guys ever. Nobody noticed it nor did they care. So basically, these guys become rich by stealing pennies.

Haha, so true.
When it comes to massive scale hacks, let’s say 100,000 people. 1 Penny each would be 100,000 pennies = 1000 pounds. 10 pennies each - 10000 pounds

Not quite a hack… He grabbed passwords people had posted on forums and what not, or he would guess passwords that were simple (abc123 [no joke, that is the most popular password in the world…]). There is no security good enough to protect people from their own stupidity. In this case, he was an idiot not realizing that values are monitored, and he was quickly caught, the money was returned, and he is likely to be prosecuted. Also it should be noted, he only got 400 peoples passwords. Out of 150 million itunes accounts.

It’s not, it’s called stealing accounts because of stupid passwords. No hacking required, and not new or interesting.

What annoys me is now having to enter my password 3 times and auth code twice just to make a 99p purchase.

It’s something different to having to accept a new license agreement every single time, anyway.

I jailbroke my ipod. Now I have youtube downloading, infinity board, infinity dock, BACKGROUNDING (thats right, something only in OS4 on a normal ipod touch), screen recording, android lock (draw a pattern instead of a password), SBsettings, iStrings, winterboard, IRC, I can go on and on with what you can do with a cracked ipod!

How much does it cost to jailbreak it? I want to jailbreak my ipod as well some time, but I don’t know much about jailbreaking :S

Completely free.

  1. download the attached file
  2. Plug in your ipod and open up iTunes
  3. go to your ipod tab
  4. Under version, shift-click restore.
  5. Choose the IPSW file that you downloaded.
  6. Your ipod is now downgraded to 3.1.2
  7. Open up redsn0w.exe
  8. Click “browse” and choose the same IPSW file
  9. It should start processing
  10. If you have an MC model, it will give you a warning. I have an MC model. Basically, you can’t turn off your ipod. Although, its not like you need to. it can still lock. If it does turn off, you will just have to start up redsn0w again with your ipod plugged in. Click yes.
  11. You will have two checkboxes that says install cydia and just boot tethered. Check install cydia and uncheck boot tethered.
  12. It will install cydia
  13. Boot tethered.

Tada.

Does this work with all iPods? I bought mine like few months ago from Apple store. I think i read somewhere that there was no way to jailbreak that new version yet? not completely sure though >.<

That should work. I don’t think there is a hack for the new OS though.

crap. Upload was too big. You going to have to download redsnow on your own.

Hacked or not, I removed my credit card data from iTunes (gift card as pretty nice solution).

I don’t know, whether I’ll buy something new though, since LOST 6 is over (was my major purchase there).
