Hello, guys. I would like to ask you, what the best way to made Leaderboards in game? I am still learning Unity and making my first game on Android/iOS and it is already ready for 70%
So, the moment has come when I need to made leaderboards. My question is - what is the best easiest way to made leaderbords? Is it free? And where I can find good information about this, maybe there is Unity tutorial about this?
Please, give me advice!
Thx for attention
Depends…is this game online? is it local leaderboards only? Do you only need 1 leaderboard or many? Are you implementing facebook or another service? There are many ways to do leaderboards, just depends on what you need.
Good day!
I forgot to notice that. My mistake. My game is not online, but I would like to make leaderbords that will list players with best highscore from different devices. For example, can I use PlayerPrefs variables in it? because I save highscore in it. I need Only 1 leaderbord which will contain only highscores and for example nicknames and if it possible - countries. I found some “Google play leaderbords”, but maybe there is better way? And, what you mean by Facebook?
Sorry for my english, and thanks for answering!
PlayerPrefs is for local device on a single device. Sure you could store values from other players, but you’d have to store them somewhere online and pull them down.
If you want leaderboards for many users, you need some sort of online place to track them. Generally a free baas service will be enough. Playfab for example has a free tier and you could create a single leaderboard on it. Then you would just grab the data from them using their Unity SDK.
Google is another one that has something similar.
There is also GameSparks that has a free tier.
Facebook has a Unity sdk also, so if you had people logging in with facebook, you could use it. I believe they allow at least one leaderboard.
You could also setup your own server and track some high scores there, but I think you’d be better off using a backend service and utilizing one of their free tiers.
