Founders: Sons of Hyrmalion is a sandbox cubic voxel MMORPG. We tried to realize the wish we all had one day while playing our favorite games: “Could be really nice if I could do that!”
We started from this little “that” to develop Founders, a game with lots of features, here are some of them:
- Playable at both first and third person
- Solo campaign acting as a detailed and playable historical introduction
- Open sandbox multiplayer worlds with a new generation server-handling system allowing tens of thousands players to share the same server without any instances.
- Total construction freedom on any axis
- Open economy
- Pvp system with ladders
- API with private and modded servers
- Complete character personalization
- A combat system crossing auto and manual targeting
- A dynamically generated quest system based on in-game events
- Dynamic systems such as electricity, liquids and gases
- Advanced performance with complete and optimized multithreading on both client and server sides.
- Multi-OS compatibility with the use of the Unity3D engine.

The universe of Founders: Sons of Hyrmalion takes place in an uchronia of the Victorian times with Steampunk shades.
Forced off their land by diseases and discord, the inhabitants from the old Kingdom of Hyrmalion had no choice but to immigrate to a recently discovered territory: Euckar.
This massive exodus arrives when the ideological mindsets are disturbed and hit by the new ideas of change of a philosopher who rose during the last months before the great departure: Sigmund Volunthar.
Volunthar is a revolutionary writer who stood up against the monarchy that threw its people into a deadly turn and published a book: “A life for Hyrmalion” that spread extremely fast in these doomed times. Several interpretations of this book appeared shortly after and only the urge of the departure permitted to avoid the conflict.

The three main ideological streams that appeared with the democratization of Volunthar’s work gave birth to nations well decided to take control over the people of Hyrmalion.
A republican movement, completely embracing Volunthar’s ideas was created, and wished a nation where people would be led by people. This movement was mostly composed of the class of bourgeoisie and of the beginning of a middle class, both of which wanted to be part of the political decisions. Located in the mountainous foothills, they founded Dendarion, capital city of the republican nation.
Another group tempered Volunthar’s words by saying the ills he condemned were only caused by the actions of the last king of Hyrmalion, and thus wished a restoration of the founding fathers’ dynasty, which brought the Kingdom to its apogee. This royalist vision, brought by former nobles and town dwellers, put back on a throne the former monarchs, and established itself on the East coast of Euckar, building its capital named Valaris on an island just next to the continent.
Finally, the last ideology gave birth to the Concilium, a political party advocating security and order as main individual liberties. Having a few aristocrats and a majority of farmers, this nation settled in the Fanster, some sort of gigantic forest in the south of the continent.
However, two other powerful nations were already living in Euckar:
First, the colonial company of the city-state of Valion, the first one built by the settlers when they arrived in Euckar. This commercial and scientific organization makes trading possible over the entire continent and offers a temporary haven to newly-arrived settlers.
Then, the ancestral aboriginal Empire of Allastor which has been settled for thousands of years in Euckar. They are organized in several half-autonomous cities spread over the whole continent. They represents one of the biggest threats to colonization of Euckar.

In Founders: Sons of Hyrmalion, it is possible to play with both first and third person, each of which has its perks in certain situations.
For example, if you’re building, the first person view will impose itself as the most practical and efficient one. However, during a massive fight, having the camera behind your character will offer you a larger field of vision over the battlefield, but in the meantime will reduce your accuracy.
The HUD is composed of a mini-map, of health/energy gauges and of a bar which will be both used for skills and inventory, depending on the situation.

With Founders, we felt the need of exploring everyone would have. To remedy that we are creating an entire continent for the players to evolve on, which will be procedurally generated, but in a managed way, to obtain plausible landscapes with defined climate zones. For private games you will of course be able to customize the way your world will be generated.
F: SoH offers you the possibility to do whatever you want in terms of movement, you can run, walk, crawl, swim, climb… Also, with appropriate gear, you will also be able to dive, fly, dig, etc.
