Model of arms for weapons?

Hey community,
I’m just curious… Am I really looking in the wrong direction or is it possible that it’s so hard to find a decent model of arms for FPS genre of games?

Now, please, don’t flame me down… I understand I can buy a great model of arms for some $$$, and yes, buy it if you want it… etc…

BUT, when you look all over the net, you can find millions of gorgeous weapon models, a good amount of them even royalty free, heck some authors doesn’t even ask for credits… Is it possible, that internet is flooded with those FPS games and yet, it’s so hard to find a decent, rigged arms model for use in your own game?

Please, make my day and link to a model of arms that I obviously missed while I was searching for it!

Thanks!

Easy solution: Make them yourself.

Are you making a game or mixing other people’s games?
It’s hard to find AAA quality stuff for free that is game ready right of the bat, because most people know they can get money for it, or feel too lazy to actually work for hours upon hours to give it out for free.

All my respect to any developer out there that gives out drag drop ready AAA quality content (or of any quality really), but demanding people for it instead of doing it yourself makes you look kind of like…a douche. I’m not trying to flame you, i use other peoples stuff too (but mainly for prototyping) and i am pretty new to game development, but i try to make as much as possible by myself or with my team/friends.

Download Blender and start modelling, it’s fun and not THAT hard really either.

You will hardly find arms/hands for a FPS game on the internet because that is no drag&drop kind of thing. It’s easy to model a gun that everybody could use, but the arms/hands of the player have to fit the camera settings you are using and the animations have to be tailored to the weapons you are using in your game. So there are simply to many variables for anyone to offer a one-for-all solution, and nobody wants to put something on the internet just to get a bunch of complaints because it’s unusable for 99% of the people who download it.

Thanks for comments…
And yes, I completely agree, I am all for doing it yourself anyway… But guys I’m the programmer… I’m focusing in that direction, and I want to keep myself improving in that… I’m not a modeler… It would be pretty time consuming to make an entire game where I would be programming it and creating assets for it, that’s why I was asking for one… Because I would need to spend XX amount of hours just learning to use blender (for example) and that another XX hours for creating assets, in that time I could have improved my game (in tehnical and programming sense) by a ton…

Yes, I do agree it’s game dependent… It’s a bummer…

Well thanks for comments, it atleast help me to know that I’m not searching in wrong direction, it’s just they’re hard to come by…

Ha. I might just pay a modeler to create using my drawings, but at least I can do the rigging and animation, thank god.

If you have money laying around i guess that is a viable option.

I don’t…

Yeah, that is understandable. I have a friend working for me doing the art stuff, maybe you should try to do the same - find some similiar minded person that would like to team up with you and work for free and share the potential income when the game is finished. Atleast this might work for a hobby/indie game, but i don’t know at what level of quality your project is at/planned to be.
