2.x Updates are for free if you have a license for Unity 2. You can simply install it over your current installation.
Though i dont know if it can be done with the demo-installation. You should contact UTee directly to clear this.
The 2.1 update is free for all owners of Unity 2.0. What’s more is that all updates in the 2.x family will be free for those folks as well, the next paid upgrade will be when we release Unity 3 at some point in the distant future. Restated: all minor updates are free (2.x to 2.y), major updates will require you to pay an upgrade fee (2.x to 3.y)
