Hi, I’ve attempted to submit this as a bug, but it seems the new Bug Reporter isn’t working for me (the submit button is active, but clicking appears to have no effect).
Using the new Hierarchy window on MacOS with Unity 6000.3.11f1 I’ve run into a small issue where dragging an object under another to set is as the child will rename the parent object.
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a few objects using the new hierarchy window
Click once on an object to start renaming it
Before the field changes to the editable state, click and drag the object
Drag it under another object to set the dragged object as a child
Observe the new parent object has taken the name of the dragged child object
As an important note: since the new Hierarchy is still experimental, we tend not to backport fixes unless they are addressing massive showstoppers. This issue does not fall into that category. So I can’t promise a fix in any version before 6.6. Be we will 100% fix this!
Thank you for logging this and tracking it. My apologies, I don’t know why the Bug Reporter isn’t working for me… but… I have another one.
If you select a game object in the scene view, then in the new hierarchy window double click on the visibility toggle for a different game object, the scene view will zoom into the first selected game object.
The behavior seems to be similar to the normal double click behavior but is activated when double clicking the visibility icon, and is targeting the wrong gameobject.
Hey Sam! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I believe this is a known issue, and the fix should be available in 6000.6.0a2 and onward. See more info here-
