New to Unity (388229)

I found out about Unity quite by chance when searching for 3d modeling software and filmmaking software and was all set to buy a Mac to use it when I found out it will be out for the PC this month. Very happy about this. I make animated movies and also do my own modding, set design and learning character design and animation. I am very excited to find out about this program and to start using it for filmmaking. I have had two movies on TV in the last couple of months, have an agency promoting my work for use as pre-movie theater advertisement and PSA’s and am developing a sitcom pilot to be submitted to TV networks. To view my movies in hi res go to http://omdb.us

I am going to have a lot of questions although this seems to be an easy program to learn to use. I know now that Unity does not have a built in lip synch but that you can script that function also. I kind of thought that would be possible.

I also own Moviestorm, Iclone, Daz3d, Houdini and Renderman although I have not used Renderman yet as I haven’t had time to install my Maya. But I really think with Unity, I am not going to need anything else to make some great looking videos.

I am quite happy to make artwork and sets for other users. I work very quickly and usually if I have created a prop or set for my own use, I pass it along to others.

Hi Lucinda,

I have seen your work over at moviestorm, and just thought I’d say hello and welcome to Unity

Unity is extremely powerful, you could in fact write your own version of Moviestorm in it - and I would guarantee it would be a hell of a lot faster too.

Anyhow, all the best!

Tony

Hi, I remember you from Moviestorm. Yes I was just thinking that this morning that another machinima making tool could be made with this software. So as soon as we get more people over here who are interested in this, we could do it as a group. It is too much work for one person to do. Or maybe it isn’t. LOL. I also realized this morning that I could make customized sets, scenes and animations for another person to use to make their own movies. Of course that is something I would not do for free.

I am very excited about this product. It doesn’t look that difficult to learn and it will make my movies so much better quality which is very important when trying to go commercial with filmmaking.

Welcome aboard, poke around, ask questions and most of all have fun!

Thank you for welcoming me. I plan to do all the tutorials to get ready for the release of Unity 2.5 for Windows.
