Non Commercial Collaboration - Guidelines & Rules

Welcome to the Non Commercial Collaboration forum.

This forum is a place where you can search for non-commercial collaborators or projects to work on and advertise your interest in doing so. Please be aware that this forum is for unpaid project work only.

Do not post here for short term technical requests. If you are looking for help with a bug in your project or advice on a specific problem, use the relevant Community Discussion forums.

To advertise yourself to potential employers, please use the Job Seeking forum.

If you are looking to recruit for paid positions and jobs, please use the Job Offering forum.

Rules for posting and the usage of this forum:

  • The general Community Code of Conduct and the Unity Website & Communities Additional Terms apply.
  • This forum is for non-commercial projects and collaborations only.
  • Don't split your requests into multiple posts. If you are looking for an animator and an artist, for example, include both in your post.
  • This forum is not a place for discussions. Commenting on threads is disabled except for the thread starters. If you want to reach out to a thread starter, please contact them via the means described in their thread. If no other means are specified, you may contact them via the forum's Conversations system.

  • Thread starters may post one comment every 72 hours in their threads in order to bump them or to add more information.

  • Thread starters may edit their threads and posts to make corrections or to update them.

  • Thread starters may delete their own threads or posts.

  • Unity may remove threads that haven't been bumped or updated in more than 90 days.

  • Unity and any moderator/administrator of its systems are not responsible for resolving any conflicts as a result of any collaborations.

  • If you find yourself in a conflict with an employer/employee, please resolve this in private.

  • If your post does not meet these requirements, it may be closed or deleted.

  • These rules are subject to change or amendment at any time.

You can *use this template * for inspiration when creating a thread but there are no hard restrictions regarding the formatting.

Any department or persons of Unity Technologies are not responsible for:

  • Transactions or contracts formed between parties as a result of recruitment from Unity Communities
  • Resolving disputes on contracts or agreements formed as a result of recruitment from Unity Communities

Any contract work acquired on the forums is done entirely at your own risk. If you have a bad experience please try and resolve this issue with the relevant parties in private. If in doubt, contact your local attorney for legal advice.

Here are a few tips:

  • If you want to use the forum's Conversations system to be contacted about your ad, please make sure that your account settings permit the reception of new conversations.
  • Don't feel the need to publish your age or any other personally identifiable information but you are free to do so.

  • Be concise and to the point.

  • Include links to relevant external resources, like your GitHub repository or portfolio.

  • Don't expect people to be very interested in volunteering to work with you if all you bring to the project is the initial idea - ideas are like eyeballs, almost everyone's got at least two of their own.

  • Don't come and post your project here if you've done no substantive work on it yet - writing down design ideas, sketching characters and locations, making gameplay prototypes, etc. This doesn't mean you need a month of full-time work or anything, but you should at least demonstrate that you're as willing to put time into your project as you're asking other people to.

  • Don't be highly demanding and pushy and expect a lot of responses. If you need urgent help, high-quality work, etc, then most people will expect you to pay for it.

If you have any questions, please contact any of the moderators.
