Physics Materials

A couple of quick questions that maybe someone could help me with…

If I don’t have a physics material assigned on my terrain collider then what will its friction values be?

Also is there a way to have a physics material per material? That way I could maybe texture my terrain using the splat map, but have different surface properties when driving on the grass compared to the road. The only way I can think of having something close to this would be to split the terrain mesh up.
