Pirates of New Horizons "RELEASED" !

Looks great… Although, I don’t know what age group the game is geared towards, but I thought it was vary easy… I like the artwork, and it has a great feel… Keep up the good work!

the best Unity game i’ve played so far.

stop

some technical info / blog by the developers could really rise the hype on this title and help spread the word to play the final game… (because you’re gonna do it, right?

as musician… i also like the music very much!

congratulations for this prototype!

s

wow…looks great. Download tomorrow

Great game!

Downloading it now. I remember your first posts about this and I’m really looking forward to checking it out.

Ok, I played the game and I also did the survey :3
What I liked the most was definitely the Volcano level. I loved the art too.
The only part with which I ran into a bit of trouble was the combat, but maybe I’m just retarded. My problem was that, I have to cover, and it’s fairly easy to do on one on one battles because once you’ve been in a few fights you can easily see the animation the mob does before attacking. The thing was that when there were multiple enemies, like in the part on the lava pit with the chains and stuff, it was fairly easy to get hit because I couldn’t tell when to cover or when was it safe to attack, but as I said, maybe I’m just stupid.
Though I think it’s something to keep in mind if you’re going for a younger or more casual audience. A way of making it easier to tell when you’re about to be attacked would be to make the enemies grow increasingly red or something like that.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Good work.

Just finished the prototype and i’ll just say that i loved it and i hope you’ll finally make a full game out of it. Survey sent too. Keep it up, amazing work!

even though the art style would immediately imply that its geared towards small children we never specifically made that our target audience.
i was always of the opinion that game developers should make games that they would want to play themselfs ( and only those !) so as far as i am concerned this game is for 20 something males who are nostalgic of the good old days where cartoony jump and urn games where all the hot biz !

but the wider the appeal the better right ?!

Impressive work

Were you alone to work this out ?

Wish you best success !

we just hit kotaku i am so proud !

/edit also if you want to help

a digg would be appreciated !

Amazing work! I completed it and filled in the survey. I especially liked the cloud effects and the glowing lava flows on the Volcano world. I wonder if those clouds were particle effects created in Unity3 or something more–beautiful scenery in any case. Jacquli mentioned the combat mechanics. I did find combat a bit lacking. In the hardest spots in the game (dozens of aliens) all I needed to do was constantly press JUMP and HIT and I could take them all out without doing any damage. But the exploraration aspect was great.

In the opening sequence, did the main character blow up a ship that contained her captured crewmates without blinking? Maybe I misunderstood, but if so, that would be odd. Loved the story and craftsmenship of the cut scenes in general. They told me this was a professional-level game.

It’s really good, but I also wonder if there’s a revenue-generating audience for this genre.

I would suggest putting it on reddit.com, will likely get more attention there. I try to stay away from digg like it’s the plague. Too much controversy about them stealing articles and such.

we already put it on reddit too i believe let me try and find it

Wanted to add this link as well

Good stuff, will be on par with banjo and kazooi or mario galaxy with a bit of spit and polish

being on par with mario galaxy ? … ok thats gonna take some work ^^

that rock paper shotgun article is great thanks for sharing !

Very good, love the style, just fix the camera and it’ll be perfect!

i assume by fixing you mean that it adjust its orientation horizontally automaticly according to where you run ? ( like mario does ? )

i like the splintercell style camera that is 100% in the players hands but i should at least add an tweak- able option (i think retched and clank always offered that !)

I think the mario style cam would work best, it just works well.

you need to have a save game…

i was playing and then i had to stop to do schoolwork and i now have to start over :frowning:

other then that i LOVE IT its great

Yeah this is really awesome stuff, and nice clean crisp art work.
