Cheers!!

Character looks good technically, but artistically I find it bland and uninteresting. I also happen to think that your pricing needs some adjustment if you want to sell to the masses.

I think a lot of people are unclear on what professional assets ā€œreallyā€ cost. Now, I haven’t looked at the animations, but if they are of sufficient quality, $80 for the model, texture and 14 animations is really cheap.

Let’s say you are simply amazingly talented, and could do all the above work that went into the above assets. Now let’s say you are simply amazingly fast, faster than most seasoned professionals, and you can do all that work in two weeks working full time. Finally let’s say you are simply amazingly generous, and are willing to do the work for $5 an hour.

That’s $400 for the work. They are offering it all for one fifth that cost.

I wouldn’t say it is bland or uninteresting… that is slightly too strong for me. I would say it lacks detail, though. Too many parts of the flesh (and even the clothes) are just too smooth and clean. The first ever ogre to care about it’s appearance. :stuck_out_tongue:

These issues, though, could be easily solved via normal map and through textures though. So my opinion is that he model is done well enough, it’s just the texturing that requires some TLC.

The pricing is above my personal comfort zone but real cheap in comparison to some of the other stuff that is available.
I’d give this a definite thumbs up

I agree ^^ he does seem quite… hygienic

Animations are bland and weightless, but that’s expected from indie models. I’ve yet to see an indie model with good looking animations.

hope, you’ll have sales at 80 dollars … Here many users ask for character assets at the DEXSOFT or 3DRT price range ( half your price and less ). Other creators lowered their price to stick to this price range, maybe you should do the same. A little bit dirtier would be really nice too, he’s an ogre : he doesn’t know how to eat with dishes …

Thank you for all your responses.

rosor - A lot of what you said confused me. You said ā€œhope, you’ll have sales at 80 dollarsā€?! My price is USD 79.99 . and 3DRT offer their game model way to expensive like USD119. Maybe you saw my price as USD 7,999 perhaps?

2sfxman1 - If that is not enough, I shall work hard to improve my animation. Maybe you can show me some of your awesome animation as reference.

Mr.Dude - My model lack of detail? maybe its because of my GI rendering. It kind of swallows all the normal map and color details.
You can try check this model out by just using standard lighting. The Ogre is not those tribal too dirty Lord of the Rings types of species. He is more of a civilize Ogre (slightly high IQ and know dirty is bad! :p). Just trying to do something more different than the typical Ogre.

I am planning to make an add-on accessories for the Ogre like helmet, arm pads, weapons ect and will be sold as separate package. (more cheaper price).

Thanks for the commends and I will try to improve my artwork in the future. Please do support me by purchasing it.

Good news for you guys! After great consideration and lots of tears. The price has gone down to $40!!!

OMG!! OMG!! Buy! Buy!!

omg omg alert the press

i saw your price at 79,90 dollars …well, i said 80 dollars which is the same… i’m lazy i on’t want to write 79,90 dollars… but here i wrote it twice. About what you saw, which model cost 119 ??? Many of Dexsoft characters are at about 30/40 dollars. And maybe it’ll take a year to get your investment back ( even at 80 dollars ) maybe less maybe more … I think 40 dollars is the max you can sell it for unity users. the quality is good ( even though i think he could be dirtier ) but as i said other creators started selling assets ( me too …) at a too high price. We all spend time on our creations. Dry your tears, there is no need. Create you a creature library and wait over years to see your investment back. I really hope it’ll arrive for all artists here giving assets to unity users …
Hope you’ll have sales at this reasonable price.

rasor - If you read what I wrote, I’m referring to 3DRT. Their models is $100+

damned !! i’m sorry maybe i saw their price when in promo period… But models from dexsoft are really cheaper than that in any cases. Any way, stick to the price range you think you belong to. Hope the best for you.

Thanks rosor. Same goes for you too.

I really like this ogre. I don’t have a current need for it, but I don’t think $40, or even the original $80, is to much to charge.

I’ve been getting into 3d modeling and texturing lately, and I understand how much time and care goes into decent topology.

I also think that his texturing looks good - and he shouldn’t be filthy. Since he is wearing pants, instead of a loin cloth, he is obviously more civilized.

yeah : civilized. that was the word !!

SAWFISHUSA - I agree with you. That is exactly the direction I’m going for with this Ogre. My reference is the Ogre in Warhammer. They got armor, belt buckle ect. Maybe in the future I make one dirty, dump, uncivilized Ogre version.
Yup, lots of time and effort being put in making this Ogre. Glad you feel it.

looking great. I thought the attacks looked a bit too fast. Like it was a toy weapon instead of a massive metal one.

He’s like Shrek, a misunderstood, very friendly Ogre… with a big, scary weapon… also misunderstood… it’s for cracking nuts, not heads :stuck_out_tongue:
When I make a game that requires an Ogre I’ll get back to you

You cannot compare the two scenarios, because paying someone to freelance you a model means that the model is yours exclusively.

The 40 price seems just about right -for me-. Should i need it somewhere down the line i’ll keep this in mind, i just need to add some better skin tone variations (not dirt).
