Does your game have a plot? Characters? Narrative Designer asset is an assistant for visualizing, systematizing, and enriching your original story. What’s included:
Storage and organization of narrative data directly in your Unity project (characters, lore, plot points). This replaces piles of documents, services with content limitations, and generally prevents data scattering. You can work through a single menu offline.
Interactivity. Story events that the author enters form a timeline and matrix. In short, it answers the question: what state is each character in at every moment in time? Created to track where plot holes are and how to better rearrange events, taking into account character arcs.
Characters can be moved around the board, and clicking on the line between two will show their relationship. Here you can see who is where, how they’re connected to others, and the significance of each character. Overall, the asset is designed so that the author keeps less in their head and can better visualize and explain to the team.
For the same purpose (communication with artists, composers), there’s HTML page export. For game design documents or character sheets. One click and the database is at hand. The asset can be used purely as documentation builder. Compiled based on a synthesis of known approaches. Filling it out will help materialize your game more thoughtfully.
And the main task of Narrative Designer is to help populate the game world. Perhaps you’re more of a “tech person,” or you’re looking for non-trivial ways to deepen characters. For this, there’s export for AI assistants. The asset can produce .txt files about characters, the game as a whole, and specific plot events. You won’t waste time explaining context, but rather make your request to the neural network, attaching the file. For example: model a dialogue, visualize a scene, invent quests for a character, find potentially boring spots. More details about AI →.
P.S. In our time, “magic” is alive as never before. From a disembodied idea to implementation takes less and less time. Talk to AI - and here are illustrations, scripts, code, just put it all together. But this ease has a downside: shoddy work. We encourage you not to generate blindly, but to process AI output yourself.
The asset is tailored specifically for behind-the-scenes work and is not included in the build. It’s not about code, sales, or visuals - pure content. Narrative Designer is now available on the Unity Asset Store. Take note, especially if you’re making visual novels or complex RPGs.
