Hello,
I am low-vision / legally blind and I just recently started using Unity. I wanted to ask if folks knew of any ways to navigate parts of the Unity Editor using a screen reader. I completed the Unity Essentials learning pathway mostly using screen magnification, but I definitely prefer using screen readers when possible.
The Unity Hub and the top menu of the Editor are screen reader accessible, which is great, but I was curious if there were ways to navigate panels like the hierarchy window, the project window, the inspector window, etc. on Windows 11 using something like JAWS or NVDA. I know things like the Scene view are visual and require mouse input, but if there is a way to use my screen reader to read/navigate some of these other UI elements, that would make things a lot easier and more efficient for me.
Questions:
- Are there any built-in accessibility settings for using the Unity Editor?
- If not, are there any third-party tools, scripts, plug-ins, etc. which make the Editor more accessible?
- Is there a way to customize the keyboard shortcuts or map new actions to keybinds?
- Are there any Golden Cursor files that people have made for the Editor? Golden Cursor is an NVDA add-on which allows for saving, labeling, and creating keyboard shortcuts for various mouse positions.
Thanks very much for any suggestions or help.
