Hi,
I am posting on behalf of my studio, we are new to Unity and game development in general.
To give a bit of a background about us, we are a small web / graphic design company each operating from home. We have been running for about 4 years successfully now but want to move in to mobile app development.
We have done some research and gotten quotes locally and overseas for what we want our first project to be; a slot machine on iPad, iPhone, and Android, to start.
Although there’s plenty of slot machine competition, we feel that if it’s marketed correctly then we have the design skills to make one that will be popular.
But reasons aside, I wanted to get some thoughts on this template that I’ve found;
http://www.tiktokstudios.com.au/
It runs well, we have tested it on iPad as well, and looks nice. I have been in touch with them and they have responded quickly and professionally so at least I know they’re contactable.
To give you some ideas on why I’m considering a template option;
- We have design and art skills so this would allow us to get something live quickly.
- The best local quote I could find was nearly $13,000.
- The best overseas quote I could get was about $4000.
I have actually tried another template recently and was given a refund as it wasn’t what we were after at all- http://bluecloudsolutions.com/beta-site/source-codes/multi-line-slot-machine-source-code-bonus-games/
Now that I’ve covered the background, I was hoping someone might be able to answer some questions.
First, has anyone actually bought the template that I’m considering, or know someone who has? I would love to get in touch with them.
I plan on making an offer, what do you think someone like that is worth?
Everyone involved is new to Unity but know Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. inside out. Do you think we will be able to put our artwork together quickly or run in to any technical issues with Unity? I have been doing Digital Tutors courses on Unity and have the basic concept of the UI, etc.
I have also tried other slot machine assets from the Unity asset store but they all required far too much pre-existing knowledge to make something work immediately.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this post and I look forward to any responses.
Peter.
