What Social Media Platforms do you use to follow the GameDev industry, and why?
LinkedIn helps me stay focused on GameDev by featuring real people with publicly shown experience. Moreover, it gives me great reach. My record for an image post is 170K.
I watch Youtube vlogs of small-time solo devs who are in a similar situation as me. I’m not really interested on getting the inside scoop on AAA or anything of that scale.

Unity has 3 Official Active Accounts on the X social platform:
- Unity
- Unity for Games
- Unity Asset Store
To get an isolated GameDev feed immediately, I created a List called “Unity Technologies” and customized my Home page using the “Manage Timelines” feature.
Moreover, you can subscribe to that my list and add it to your Home page.

I prefer reading over watching videos, so I use RSS feeds from both large websites and smaller blogs. That way, I can read them on my phone while on the move whenever I have some free time.

I started posting on Twitter/X in May, but it brings very few views to my posts. LinkedIn works much better: over 100k impressions over the last week.
What’s the secret for X?
Using it before 2023. Twitter is effectively a dead platform for growth and has been for a while, especially if you’re linking off-site. Posts that include links are algorithmically deprioritized, so you can only really rely on your followers seeing them, and even then you really need them to be using the chronological timeline which hasn’t been the default for a while. LinkedIn will get you more impressions, but a lot of that is going to be from crawlers that are doing everything they can to appear human, not meaningful actual impressions.
I’m not very familiar with the best practices on X.
I tried posting with and without links — the results on X are the same: low views.
By the way, that’s not the case on YouTube and LinkedIn (at least for long-form posts).
