Do we have to enter our details EVERY TIME we access the page?

for those that want tldr with my commentary

  1. layoffs around the industry because there is no money.
  2. studios trying to figure out a way to connect a fragmented user across multiple platforms
  3. developers are not taking risks and stick with what they know
  4. instead of creating a basket of new games devs and publishers stick with the few games they already have and try to pack more “stuff” inside so gamers don’t go away.
  5. devs try to use AI in games because is hype now

a couple of main factors are at play in the current game industry decline that will go worse over the years. and some of these factors were created by the industry itself which is ironic.

first the game industry moved from the games being a challenge that required mental and physical coordination to a predatory system of gambling addictive behavior. this over the years managed to dumb down the player base that don’t know how to “play” anymore. there is still a niche of older players but time will cut them down, is inevitable.

second the rise of social platforms where you “swipe up” every ten seconds like a zombie and I bet all of you already observed whatever place in the world you are. so these people will not play games will never play games because is too much work for them. they can get their “dopamine” way easier watching these social platforms.

third the legalizing of gambling around the board in many parts of the world means money now goes into casinos, spots betting, gambling on trade markets. so less money for predatory games. and this gambling around the board is also the result of the gaming industry training the new generation in the past decade with lootboxes and online currencies and the stuff we all know.

for these profound issues the industry has no solution, can you think of a solution? because I also don’t know what we can do as a society to get out of the hole we are drowning into.

so they cut jobs, try to grab on the player base they already have for as long as possible, and the big one hope the AI overlord can help them. It can’t. because the AI overlord is just a broken mess of a hype. Last year I’ve watched google and microsoft and the rest investing big time in the AI and one year later we still have the same thing from the last yer, nothing really useful. because is not possible now, maybe ten years from now maybe. but not now.
