Trying to download space shooter but get an empty asset space

I am starting of on unity but got stuck at the space shooter example. Going to the web and find the space shooter asset which says open in unity but that ends up in an empty asset space window. Tried reinstalling unity but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

This is for unity on mac os

I guess it mid be important to mention that this is for the free version of unity.

Install the also the Example Assets and when creating a new project select “add asset package”.
