I’d like to contribute to the Unity Answers community but because I have 1 karma I can’t upvote answers to my questions and I’d like to help out the newbies but because they can’t upvote my answers I won’t get karma for it. So you need karma to get karma essentially. I feel this might hurt the community as people are discouraged from helping new users and new users are discouraged from participating in the community.
You answer questions and wait for others to goat, er… vote your answer as the correct answer.
You do not up-vote your own answers.
Around 20k users have managed to gain karma, so I think the quagmire is not too impenetrable. The karma system works on you getting some votes for asking good questions. It’s possible that the community does not typically up-vote questions as well as they could.
