I’m pretty sure Unity wasn’t developed for GooBall, GooBall was an idea after OTEE having a session of playing Super Monkey Ball for a night or something similar, or something - development of a game engine had already started by then.
Right?
Yes and no.
Unity was originally designed to do BOTH a top-gun like manga-ish submarine flight sim AND a top-down driving game.
Both of these projects were canned then we did GooBall. While making GooBall we decided to publish the editor as a standalone product.
So yeah, the engine had been in development for a long time, but it was originally made to be an in-house engine.
