Yeah but when you look at the actual reviews… It makes it look like it shouldn’t be in the top Apps.

Kids games. For the most part, that’s what I see when I look at mobile games. Sure, there’s the rare teen game…but for the most part, they’re toddler games. They’re casual games.
So I think it’d be pretty obvious that when you look at various things such as Game Maker and the rest - that they’re going to look like they make kids games…that’s where the market is - whether you’re talking mobile gaming, web/Facebook gaming, etc, etc, etc. Cute lil’ casual games…
Yeah, I don’t like making mobile games let alone play them. Yeah, it’s where the market is going and yeah, it’s where the money is but it’s not where my passion is. I’d take being happy and enjoying my work over having millions of dollars and being miserable at what I do any day.
Granted you can make money with anything with the right marketing and advertisement plan. So there is always that chance like what happened with Minecraft. Good product, on PC, didn’t make much the first how long? But then word got around and it blew up through word of mouth. Guerrilla marketing right there with little to no effort. haha
That’s something that faces a lot of “creative” folk - whether they’re artists, writers, musicians, photographers, etc, etc, etc. Stick to your individual passions or “sell out”, so to speak. It definitely applies to game developers as well. Can’t remember which thread it was, but taumel said it pretty well in regard to having another source of income while sticking to your guns so to speak.
In threads on other forums, I’ve been in discussions regarding graphics quality and art style. I’d take a lower graphics quality for an art style I like than a higher graphics quality for an art style I despise. I’m a 40 year old man, I’m not going to be playing cutesie lil’ games…well, not that I’d let anybody watch me play them. I did have a short period there where I played Noogra Nuts. But, but, I was going through an emotionally turbulent part of my life there - I couldn’t afford the convertible and did not think the gf would appreciate my looking for a buxom blonde…ahem.
