Updating the Unity Pro(cracked) .apk to Unity Free .apk

I published a game in Google Play Store with Unity Pro cracked version. Then I regret it immediately because pirating is not good. So, the illegal .apk file stayed in store for one day. Then I updated the .apk file with the legal .apk of Unity Free verision. Am I still in trouble? Should I delete the game from the store? I sent a support ticket and no one is answered me yet. So, if you know something about this please lighten me up.

Shame on you for using the pirated version, but kudos for coming to your senses, although I have a feeling it’s more out of a worry of being caught than it is about feeling bad.

First of all… I would remove your game from the store immediately, and I mean right this instant… don’t wait for an update. At the very least unpublish it if that’s possible. Then update it with the apk generated by Unity Free. Also, I would highly recommend getting rid of the cracked version immediately. Just the fact that you were able to do a version with Free tells me you didn’t need the pro features anyway. I would suggest trying to make some money with the free version and then buy Pro.

Also, it’s very unwise to use pirated software. You have a very high chance of getting viruses and malware that you won’t even know is there.

There is no support case sent from your email address. Please PM me the case number and I’ll go look and see what you have said. Please include the link to your game online, and a screenshot of the Unity About screen which shows the serial number you’re using.

Alright guys I decided to remove the game and then republish it with the apk that I builded with free version. And my valuable 31 downloads are gone like “puff” because of my bad decisions.

Thanks for the advices Dustin Horne.

Can you still pm me the support case number you submitted. It can take a day or two to get reply, but if you have sent in a support case you’ll get a response. (Just I couldn’t find it when I was in the support system just now.)

I thought you said in your first post that you’d deleted the apk?

Okay I will pm you. And I updated the apk but didn’t remove the game.

You’re scaring him! :stuck_out_tongue:

I cant believe he cracked unity, and then went to the forums to talk about it. Thats like robbing a store, going back and saying ‘This thing I stole from you isnt working, can you fix it?’

Well, to be fair, it’s more like robbing a store then returning the money and asking not to get prosecuted. At least he’s more honest than the various threads I’ve seen over the years talking about how someone’s “friend” pirated Unity and asking if their “friend” would get in trouble for publishing a game with it. Still, it takes balls to publish a game with pirated software. Especially when, as Dustin Horne pointed out, he obviously didn’t even use the features since he could easily replace it with the free version.

It might be helpful to send Unity the serial number at least, so they can get a bead on who’s doing it.

Piracy != Theft or robbery.
At least he removed it.

I disagree

Morally its just as bad, you are still taking something without paying for it. Yes, in this case, nobody loses anything, but morally its just as bad honestly
