So the webgl is totally useless and webplayer is now pretty much defunct (thanks google). That leaves download builds for poeple to play but no one wants to download a game from Facebook to play do they! they all want to play with friends in the browser WITHOUT having to hacktivate Chrome.
When will webgl actually be useful? I have been wanting to get a webgl build working for months but it would seam that its never going to work properly for anyone in the real world.
I just built a very simple car game today and it dosnt work. I had more success with a game i have been working on for over a year! At least i got to run around in that game and shoot. My new game has less than about 100 lines of code all in and dosnt work (no particles, nothing at all special about it!). My other game has more than a hundred thousand lines of code and a tone of models and other stuff going on!
All i want to do is upload a webgl build and have no issues. Is that so much to ask considering I pay for the privilege of using unity.
Mine also had problems with a simple project. I found out that any sort of multithreading is incompatible with Unity, make sure you’re not using threads of any sort.
There are a fair amount of games already released with our WebGL export option.
However the platform itself has certain restrictions you have to keep in mind when developing for it.
There is also a WebGL forum where we are active answering concrete questions and helping people solve their issues.
And our turnaround time on bug fixes isn’t too shabby either I have to say.
I’ll back up that there are lots of webgl games out there, only our site have licensed (and still is searching for more) at least 40 webgl games. Check them when you can, there are more complex than a car ride
