Ok so you upload your game to Kongregate, you iron out any bugs in the api connection. Everything good in preview mode check, can submit stats check, upload check. Everything is great. But then you decide to take a look into “My Ad Revenue Report” hmm $x.xx made sweet, what this “View Full Report”? take a look and see your making a 40% share and that would be fine if it was not for the fact that you are supposed to making 50%. So what is the deal is it that unity games by default make make less? Or is the api not “really” intergraded".
Now that I think about it. It would be a laugh if none of the contestants would be entered because the api never kicked in lol.
P.s. Now I don’t want to be viewed as nitpicking but this is something that should probably be cleared up. Oh and maybe I messed the memo in that case a simple link would be plenty for me.
I knew what the share ratios weir (thank you though). And I can submit stats that are saved in Kong’s “High Scores” (in less their is more to the statistics api?). I’m more wondering if this is happening to everyone?
Or by your response you make it look like it has a toggle or something you must push. In such case I must have just missed it.
Sorry this is off topic and I’m not trying to thread jack, but is it worth making a game exclusive to Kongregate? It seems like putting it on a lot of sites would offset the extra 15%?
Probably but thats assuming you can get it on another site. Another thing to note is that so far kong (to my knowledge) is the only site with a api that you can connect to and get info about the player.
Well now that I have 2 games on Kongregate. I believe that the max a unity game may get is 40%. However this my not be the case if you have a big hitter (Sarah’s run for example). Then the api might kick in.
But really has nobody else noticed this? I would think a lot of people would want to know the reason flash gets 10% more…
It does seem odd that a Unity game wouldn’t be able to get the max %. Perhaps you should send Anthony from Kongregate a PM and see if he can clear this up for you (everyone).
True, but if your lucky he might have Email Notifications for PM’s set on. If not, you could try asking around the Kongregate Dev forums and see if anyone else knows why: http://www.kongregate.com/forums/developers
Well, I’ll look at this from a philosophical point of view…
…think of it this way, the % share you get is a very abstract number… 40%?.. 50% what does that mean? % out of what amount? how much you get per click? can you really know? can you even control it? If everyone else got 40% would you be complaining, what if you got your 50% but everyone else got 60%? Does it matter? It will all come down to one thing: You take whatever they’ll give you, if it works for you, good! if it doesn’t, remove your game from there! Just go with the flow!
haha! enough nonsense! you should claim those 10% man! they’re ripping you off! ;p
Yup like the newletter says you only start getting the 10% AFTER you get 50 high scores. My main game (Xataraxix) has 950 or so plays, but I have bin told it’s super hard so it only has 32 high scores. So I don’t get the 10% yet.
I have my game ( Doodle Numbers) at 1683 plays, but the hiscores which worked in preview refused to work after publishing, so I have it at 40% share and it has earned me $1.84 so far.
Don’t you confuse the gross and net ? On the full report, for 744 plays at 50%, I have $0.81 of gross earnings and $0.41 of net earnings. The Earnings Balance is $0.41.
As I understand, “gross” is the Ad revenue collected by Kong, and “net” is my part, 50% in this case. It seems to me that the “Earnings Balance” is wrongly displayed in the “Revenue Report” and only correctly displayed in the “full report”.
Well it could still be that. If his numbers are right he is receiving; 0.001 cents per play. And that is within possible range for example I get 0.0008 per play and you get 0.00055. So he might just be getting ads that give out a higher cpm with his game.
However I have noticed that the “Revenue Report” is wrong most of the time and you have to go into the full report to see what it really is.
