I was thinking about using an older version of Unity to submit assets to the store so that more people could access them. I’m wondering how many people are using old versions - because if a lot of people are, that could deter them from downloading an asset that requires the latest version.
So what is the most recent, non-beta version of Unity you currently have installed?
I actually use 3.5 to submit my asset, but when I get ready to release version 2 I might drop 3.5 support and just start with 4.0 (not sure yet). There is a thread floating around that you should try to find… it has stats for Unity users and the number of them on versions below 4.0 is pretty small.
I use 4.5 Pro for everything except for one project that I sold to someone else that was done in Unity 3.x. They still have me work on it but they don’t want to upgrade to 4.x yet so I have to use 3.x when working on that. It’s pretty much a pain in the neck, haha.
Currently have Unity 4.3.7 installed on all of my boxes. Namely for consistency between all platforms, as PSM has not been updated to a more recent version as far as I know.
1.0, works great on OS X 10.3! All you fools with your “lightmapping” and “global illumination” and “UI systems” and whatnot are just embarrassing yourselves; real developers don’t need any of that nonsense.
They did. At least I got an e-mail when beta 9 was available. Also, the existence of a public beta forum should have tipped you off, with its sticky containing a link to the blog talking about it
