What's the Difference between using Forums section and using the Answers sections?

I was posting questions in the Forums…but then i realized there is an Answers section too.
How do i know which one to use?

Although i got to say that many times the Answers…nobody answers my questions. I wonder why

If you have some script code that you’ve written, and are having problems debugging it, post it on Answers. Else post it here.

Answers has been over-run by people who are too lazy to search for existing answers. Currently there are 100 questions in the moderation queue. I suspect when I go moderate in a few minutes, well over half of them will be rejected. This means that many experts can’t be bothered to read through the questions that get asked. We’re going to need to have a different structure, so new users get to post their questions in a “beginners” section. Not sure how that’s going to be implemented.

I’ve never understood the point of Answers. In a perfect world it sounds like a much better system to get direct questions answered… but this ain’t a perfect world  Half of all the replies I see are people telling other people their reply should be marked as “answer” or conversely it should be marked as “reply” or “comment”… just seems like a lot of rules that the uninitiated don’t know about and thus don’t follow. Thus the whole system breaks down, and people with answers get frustrated and don’t bother.

MOST of the answers I’ve had to specific code or api issues have been found here in the forums, not on Answers.

Thanks for the info guys. I understand. I’m myself am not very smart and I’m not really a programmer or scientist. So i am like a beginner for life.

The point of Answers is to get help with specific technical questions. If a user asks a question and a good answer is given, then that can be viewed by everyone else in the community and hopefully help others besides just that one person asking it. How Unity Answers is suppose to be used is described in the FAQ.

Extensive discussions and subjective topics are better fit for the forums.
