Even though I have been told over and over again that unity is compatible with chrome on my computer it just doesn’t work. Even when using unity webplayer 2.5 and the latest version of chrome the page is rendered as if he embed tag isn’t there. Any suggestions?
Can you see the island demo on the unity homepage? I can see it with chrome 1.0.154.53, unity 2.5 and windows vista.
no it doesn’t work, I am using chrome 2.0.171.0 and unity 2.5 on windows vista.
It says my version is the latest version. So you must be using the beta version.
Your right, i had forgotten that i switched to the dev channel. I will see if it works on the stable one.
You may still want to file a bug report with all the details needed to reproduce the problem. The UT folks are really eager to make sure the Unity Web player runs smoothly on all browsers - and if the new beta version of Chrome is giving the Unity Web player troubles, the earlier they know about it, the better …
We are having problems with chrome aswell. It keeps asking us to install the webplayer. Anyone else having this problem? We have grabbed the latest version from google, so it should work right?
What is “the latest version”? They’ve tested it for version 1.something (which AFAIK is still the “current version”) but obviously, they couldn’t test for versions that came after that.
The version we are using is: 1.0.154.53
With 1.0.153.53 it should work, I guess that’s worth a bug report with all the relevant details.
Hi, yes -please- file a bug report on this one! Please include all info regarding the version of Chrome you’re using, while you’re at it.
Thanks!
Caitlyn
This is not project related. It’s the same on all webplayers.
Version 1.0.154.53 the latest from googles site. When entering a site with a webplayer it ask us to install unity webplayer, when that is done it ask us again and again and so on.
From your description, it seems like its a problem specific to your configuration (operating system, maybe other plugins installed etc.), so that would probably be the most relevant information.
Hey, since you’re in Copenhagen, you could invite the Unity folks to a party and while they’re there, they could check into that problem
The problem is that “a lot” of our clients have complained about it so we just tested it on a couple of our machines and we had the problem to. So I’m thinking that unity doesn’t really support chrome 100%.
I’m just wating for that invitation
That is a very good reason for a bug report
Ant’s right… Please bug report it if you haven’t already
I just did a test of my game in Google Chrome and this is what it looked like:
YouTube video:
But what it should look like (as it does in Safara and Firefox and IE):
Strange, but when I build a web player and play it locally in Safari on Mac I get the same look as the Chrome, but when served from the server, not so much.
Any ideas?
Also I am having HEAVY problems with Chrome (my usual browser) and Unity web plugin.
So much that I started to just copy the link and watch it in FireFox, that works.
There are some Unity project working also in Chrome though… so I guess there’s some function that makes it angry with Chrome.
i think there’s an (sad) answer…
Have you tried to administrate a joomla site in Chrome? it dosn’t works. Why? the javascript is not working on Chrome… Remember that is javascript code to make unity web player runs on a webpage.
If we had another way to put in the webpage, we’re over Chrome (i don’t have the method yet).
