3D Car to be Submitted to the Store

Hey everyone. So I have been having some trouble getting a 3D model into the asset store as I am new to 3D modeling. I would really like to get it done right so I don’t have to fiddle with it anymore.

I was pleased to receive some feedback from the reviewer who informed me of my bad poly flow. So after a few more practice runs I feel a bit more confident but I would like to hear some feedback from all of you, especially if you buy things like this regularly.

Tell me what can be improved. Any input is very helpful. Thanks.

if you are new to modeling, improve your skills first as now no one will buy this car as there are many that are better

I’d buy this, It looks really good

gonna agree with taichiu but it looks nice

Thanks. I will definitely straighten some things up and finish it as a 2000ish tris model and put it out for free. My main goal I to just have something out there.

It looks kinda nice put some wheels texture it and yeah got yourself a car

Sounds Good!

This based on a 240Z?

Yea, the flow of the polys is pretty awkward, but a decent start. I assume there more to it than what you are showing correct? You are getting the shape done nicely.

Also the Asset Store is a place for Unity developers to get assets for their games, not simply a public place to post your first works. If you want to “get something out there” don’t use the Asset store, use BlendSwap or CGSociety/Ploycount/etc… In those places you will also more specific feedback on areas to improve.

Good luck.

Looks more like a Toyota 2000GT to me.

Some feedback. It is a good start, especially if it is your first car. Generally if the mesh looks clean then the model is good. Your mesh looks a little ragged in places but nothing that cannot be cleaned up. I texture will hide some roughness but they do tend to show themselves again if the car is to reflect its environment.

Looking forward to seeing how it looks with some wheels and materials. Good luck.

Hey Tony, how’s those 1:8 Nitro’s coming along? :stuck_out_tongue:

They are going good. My work is pretty much done just a little track tidying up and some bodypaints to be designed.

This is based off of a toyota 2000 GT.

Here are some updated pictures on my progress with this project.

wow looks very different now  nice job!

Awesome! Can’t wait for them to be released.

Nice job with the textures!

Looking at some modeling-newbies, I sometimes think ‘okay, that’s something I had to learn too … over years’
But sometimes I got the feeling that either 1. there is a lack of talent ( polyflow …uh? ) or 2. a lack of perfectionism (modeling a mesh is about making compromises all the time while aiming for a consistent look and feel - especially when you’re making low poly stuff).

reading that you are new to 3D modeling and looking at your work… Well done and keep it up!!

I appreciate the positive feedback everyone. I would love to be able to work on this more and get a finished product soon but college is keeping me busy. I’ll continue to post pics as I get nearer to submitting the car.

I think these will be the last updates I show. Thanks everyone for showing some interest!
