Hi All
I am new in the 3D modelling and I am interested in learning 3ds Max or Maya for creating 3D assets for Unity. My main goal is building 3D objects for VR projects ( low poly and HD Textures, for it, Could you advice me about what 3D tool modeling should I use? and if you know some 3D modelling tool plugin for these that it can helps me to do it, please let me know it
Thanks in advance
Best Regards
Alejandro
I dont know much about 3d game modelling but I have heard that most people use Blender because of it features.
I’ve used 3ds max, but never regretted the transition to Blender. Also used https://clara.io for some basic modelling – it’s also very convenient to not install any software on your device, especially if you are switching between a laptop and a PC when working on the same projects
I use cinema but for architecture stuff you could take a look at sketchup.
Hi all
Thanks for your advice !!!

Max and maya for modeling are pretty much the same, I’ve used both and since Autodesk owns them both they are melting together even more each year. I would go with what is affordable, probably why most people used Blender.
What’s is better for draw, a pen or a pencil?. Maya and Max are only a 3d tools. Both are good 3d tool.
either of them is a good tool. the important thing is to know how to model. 3d max has more tutorials and is more intuitive. Maya has better animation system. Blender is free.
Blender is excellent
I am actually a maya user. But I use blender most of the time.
And I can tell you, that both maya and 3ds max, are good programs.
But blender is a really good program too. Alot of people use it, not just because it’s free, but because it’s a really good 3d modelling software too.
Worth mentioning that Autodesk is increasing subscription fees and Epic donated 1.2M to Blender.
Blender were used in Sega’s Virtua Tennis 4, wasn’t it? (and after them, i guess lots of known commercial game development companies were using it as well)
Yeah. I saw a vid about it, on the youtube channel Gamefromscratch.
Honestly I would go Blender, I just saw Ubisoft in Paris is getting behind blender as well.

A few months ago, some famous Japanese game company, used blender for a big name anime title. I wish I could remember, the name of the company and game though.
