Asset Store purchase timed out... what to do?

This happens so frequently, it’s made purchasing in the Asset Store sort of like walking on eggshells.

I just purchased an asset, went through the payment process (PayPal), and then hit the button to complete the sale in the Asset Store. After a while, a message came up that said the payment had timed out, and to please try again.

Last time this happened (two weeks ago), I waited a bit then did try again, and then lo and behold two charges ended up in PayPal. I had to contact the asset seller for a refund, which took a day or so to get back. I don’t want to try buying this new asset again for fear that the same thing will happen.

So, what to do? Wait to see if the asset shows up? I’m ready to use it today. How long should I wait? Should I try purchasing again, and risk being double charged when the new payment goes through? I don’t want to do that either. Is there some special meaning behind “please try again”? Try again how?

EDIT: Got the purchase to come through finally by waiting. Going to leave this here for anyone else having the same trouble. If this happens, don’t purchase the asset again, just wait.

How long did you have to wait for the asset to become available for you to download it? Because the same exact thing literally just happened to me.

It was probably around 20-30 minutes I think. Did yours come through?

We can see that at some periods PayPal took very long to answer. Credit Card payments were not affected which seems to indicate that PayPal might have had some issues.

If people use eCheck on PayPal they will experience this problem, as the payment is not cleared until way later.

Yup I think it’s a PayPal problem more so than a Unity problem. Had a similar slow down happen yesterday from another site I was using PayPal for.

I can not buy on https: //www.assetstore.unity3d.com. Each payment will display a message like: payment transaction timed out, please try again. Does anyone has encountered cases like this before, what do I do?
