Characters not starting in T-pose in scene

So I have a character.
In the preview window, it is in the t-pose.
When I drag it into the scene, it is in the pose of the first frame of animation.
Its animation is legacy.
I need it to be in T-pose so I can make it a ragdoll.
Any ideas?

The Tpose you see in Preview is the resting position of the bones…typically it’s “bind pose”. The only way I can think of to it into the TPose is to open the character in a 3D application and reset his bones to their resting rotations - which isn’t as simple as it sounds if you don’t have the source files since a lot depends on how it was created. There are other ways to get the tpose out, but they’re not trivial. You could, maybe, upload the character to Mixamo.com and use their auto-rig system, then export him back out - but you’ll not be able to use his animation anymore (not Legacy animation anyway - Mecanim is another story).
