Colour Banding with procedural skybox

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using this forum for all of my unity needs and its been great but unfortuntely I can’t find the answer to one issue I’m having.

The problem is that when using the in-build procedural skybox and a directional light for the sun I’m seeing a lot of colour banding when there are gradients of darker colours (please see the image attached).

Please let me know if you have any ideas of how to remove this issue to get a smooth gradient. This is important for this project as it is for an installation where the sky will be shown on a 55" HD screen, so the colour banding would be really obvious.

That page will explain why it happens. You will have to modify the shader to add dithering to fix it (at least one method).

Thanks for your response, I will check this out tonight and tomorrow. Is it possible to get the source for the in built procedural shader to do this ??
